Authored by highly respected leaders in education, PD Essentials titles offer the what, why, and how of great teaching. These indispensable books make the complex accessible, while offering essential connections to content and practice.

PD Essentials Books

Targeting all levels of educators interested in influencing student achievement, PD Essentials aims to bridge the gap between research and practice with titles that span a wide variety of areas in literacy and language education (PreK – 8). Recent titles include Meaningful Phonics and Word Study by Wiley Blevins, Conquering Dyslexia by Dr. Jan Hasbrouck, and Meaningful Reading Assessment by Dr. Peter Afflerbach and Dr. Adria Klein.

PD Essentials does not publish textbooks, reproducible books, or workbooks.

Submission Guidelines

Benchmark Education Company welcomes original proposals from subject matter experts on literacy- and language-related topics from pre-primary through middle school. No proposals currently under consideration for publication will be accepted. Original proposals will be considered on relevancy of ideas, originality of concepts, pedagogical implications, practical linkage between research and practice, and alignment with market needs and Benchmark Education’s mission for creating solutions that help educators differentiate instruction and enable every student to achieve success.

Submissions should be presented in double-spaced 12-point font in Microsoft Word or PDF format and should follow APA guidelines. Please submit all requirements to PDEProposals@benchmarkeducation.com

    • Contact information including phone, email, and affiliation for primary author.
    • If applicable, contact information including phone, email, and affiliation for additional authors. Additional authors should be listed in preferred order.
    • Author(s) bio(s), including membership organizations that can support this book.
    • Publications, if applicable.
    • Summary of proposed book, including approximate length and intended audience.
    • Summary of the marketability of the book, including insight on other books on this topic and how your work is timely and influential.
    • Affirming statement that this proposal is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.

While highly recommended, and supportive of a timely decision, please note that a full proposal is not necessary for submission. The Benchmark Education editorial team welcomes the opportunity to discuss evolving concepts and ideas.

An email response from Benchmark Education can be expected within 6 – 8 weeks. Please note that due to the high volume of submissions, feedback will vary from submission to submission.
