Developed by Jan Hasbrouck, Ph.D., this assessment tool helps to quickly  and accurately diagnose students’  strengths and instructional needs in  phonics and decoding skills. Teachers  can use results from the QPA to plan  core or supplemental instruction,​ as well as more intensive intervention* in phonics and decoding.Â

Teachers can use it to determine if students have learned and can apply phonics patterns in their spelling and to document improvements in handwriting skills. QSA results can also help determine which students should be given the QPA and where to start.​
