Controller

The Controller will lead and manage our accounting team to provide accurate, timely operational and financial information and reports for the company.   (S)he will establish and implement a comprehensive system of internal control; manage and review the GL and monthly close process; oversee and coordinate year-end audit schedules; and develop and manage financial statements and monthly management reporting packages.

The Controller will:

  • Establish, implement and oversee a comprehensive system of internal controls; continually analyze processes and procedures and make needed improvements
  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations to ensure ongoing compliance with financial policies and procedures
  • Oversee and train staff to ensure departmental productivity and quality
  • Prepare and review timely and accurate company financial statements
  • Understand and support critical departmental accounting needs to enable operating departments to monitor and control expenses
  • Provide timely and accurate analysis of financial trends and forecasts
  • Review and approve monthly bank reconciliations and general ledger account reconciliations
  • Successfully complete internal and external financial audits, coordinate/work with outside accountants, and deliver information requested by auditors on a timely basis
  • Complete other projects and responsibilities as assigned

The successful candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting;
  • At least five years of experience with network-based accounting systems as well as financial policies and procedures;
  • Very strong Excel, analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Project management skills;
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ethical integrity

Experience in publishing is a real plus; knowledge of Access software is also helpful but not required.


Inside Sales Representative

Working from our Northborough, Massachusetts office, the inside sales rep will:

  • Identify and pursue sales opportunities through the use of phone, e-mail, and desktop tools.
  • Identify new leads and build relationships with existing customers using your highly refined listening and sales skills partnered with your educational knowledge to generate sales, ensure repeat business, and overall, expand our market presence.
  • Work with customers over an extended period of time, as typical sales may take time to develop and close.

Travel is minimal but may include an occasional trip to meet customers at conferences and trade shows or for training in our NY office.

The ideal candidate will have excellent oral, written and telephone communication skills and experience in inside sales/telesales and/or have an education/library background. You must be comfortable and effective on the phone; proficient in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook; and possess a strong ability to use the internet and database tools. You also must be able to work independently to manage an assigned territory, so organizational skills are critical. Familiarity with or understanding of school libraries and the K-12 school market would be a real plus.


Marketing Data Coordinator

In this position, you will maintain and manage our Marketing databases, ensuring that all the marketing data is complete, accurate and up-to-date. You will need to learn about our products in detail, and understand the way multiple components are assembled to create different products and programs. Your major duties will include creating component lists; assigning product codes; entering data into relevant databases; assisting in the planning and execution of current and future database enhancements; and working on other tasks as assigned.

The ideal candidate is a team player with at least two years of experience working with data in a deadline-driven environment. You should be extremely detail-oriented, accurate and responsive; a whiz in Excel and Access databases; have excellent organizational skills; and be able to juggle multiple tasks and priorities. The ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines is a must. Strong Microsoft Office skills required; BA/BS preferred.


Warehouse Associates

We're looking for entry-level and experienced Warehouse workers to join our busy warehouse, located in West Nyack, New York.   Duties will include picking and packing orders, shipping and receiving, and general warehouse duties.   You must be able to lift boxes weighing 30 to 40 pounds and be willing to work overtime (including some weekends) when needed.   Experience assembling complex orders and forklift certification are helpful.
